14th - 15th August 2008 Meeting
The third National Low Level Waste Strategy Group meeting was held on 14th / 15th August 2008 at the Capenhurst Site in Cheshire and included a tour of the Capenhurst Site.
The overall purpose of this meeting was to gain membership input into the strategic review document and preliminary input into the options and opportunities studies that support the development of the National LLW Strategy. Presentations were provided to the Strategy Group members and participants by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, LLW Repository Ltd and Strategy Group members on the following topics:
- Site and Stakeholder updates
- Lifetime Plan Baseline Information
- Draft Strategic Review document
- Options and opportunities studies (e.g. metals, incineration, alternative disposal routes)
- Further update on programme and progress in delivering Strategic Envrionmental Assessment
- Compilation and discussion of site register information
